“Halo”, if you haven’t heard, is one of the most influential games of the 21st century. A military/science fiction first person shooter and the game that sold millions of Xboxes in the early 2000s, simply put, “Halo: Combat Evolved” was a cultural phenomenon. Multi-million copy seller and what many consider one of the best games ever made, “Halo” changed the FPS, which really became a big part of gaming in the 90s with innovative titles such as “Doom”, “Wolfenstein 3D”, and “Goldeneye”. In many ways “Halo” and “Halo 2” have become synonymous with Microsoft’s original Xbox in ways that “Super Mario Bros” and “Sonic” became synonymous with their respective consoles. The game’s main character, Master Chief, has more or less become the Xbox mascot over the years and that’s fitting considering the style of gaming (online, FPS, multi-player, battle oriented) that became popular in the past decade plus as a result of the massive success of this game and its equally popular and impressive sequel.
